Born in DC and raised in Maryland, my education began in the public schools. I then had the honor of going to college at Princeton University in New Jersey, studying with classmates from around the country and world. Finding psychology the most fascinating subject area, and receiving feedback about being an empathic listener, I majored in psychology and also became a peer counselor. I went on to earn a doctorate from the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.<\/p>\n

My focus is individual psychotherapy with adults of all ages. I have provided services in outpatient mental health clinics as well as a university counseling center. Before coming to Olney Counseling, I had 9 years of psychotherapy experience with senior adults in assisted living, rehabilitation, and long-term care settings.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I draw from multiple modalities to meet the needs and styles of each person. Person-centered, ACT, CBT, and other approaches are used, in addition to my own life experiences. I completed 200 hours of postgraduate training at the Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio, which emphasized working with feelings \u201cin the present moment.\u201d As a life-long learner, I enjoy continuing education and believe we are all works in progress.<\/p>\n

Valuing diversity in many forms is part of who I am as a person and a psychologist. I welcome people of all ethic identities and countries of origin. I welcome people of all gender identities and sexual orientations. My goal is to provide a supportive environment in which each individual is helped with their unique life challenges.<\/p>\n
